BRT Labs

Educators may use the materials in this site to investigate new teaching and learning systems being developed in BRT.

The materials are relevant for teachers in grades K-8 and in particular for students in grade levels used in most state accountability systems (3-8).

Math
A site for teachers to develop worksheets and diagnostic assessments in all four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) in grades K-6. Problem type and difficulty can be manipulated to reflect important operation skills (e.g. borrowing, carrying, etc.).

Reading
A site for teachers to develop elementary or secondary word lists that have similar semantics or morphology. Word lists can be used for word attack skills or testing for generalization. Student work can be included as PDFs in student portfolios.

Distributed Item Review

A web-based system for presenting test items to experts across a broad geographic region so they can review them for important dimensions of bias, sensitivity, and alignment with standards. Data are delivered to a single file for analysis with any statistical software.

Assessment Decision Support System (Accommodation Station)

Generates reports for team members of an Individual Educational Program (IEP) to collect and use information on students’ needs and skills as well as potential benefits related to using accommodations on statewide tests. Links are provided to a web site for training on accommodation decision-making.
